Un-Butterfly

This was a quick 'n simple card to do.  I did it for the Negative challenge over at
SCS using a TAC verse stamp and a butterfly die by
Cheery Lynn Designs.
BUT I used the reverse or negative portion of the diecut!!

I filled in the space with some paper scraps cut with
an EK rickrack punch.
The embossed border was done with my
ScorPal and I added some small
roses for the body.

I had fun doing this card and can
imagine the possibilities for
various punches and dies.

Handmade Vellum Paper technique

Today I am going to show you how to make your own vellum papers.

Pour enough baby oil in a disposable container big enough to submerse your paper.
Lay your paper in this, making sure it gets completely covered and remove.

Put your paper on some newspapers that have paper towels on them. Put more paper
towels on top of your paper. Iron this "sandwich" until paper is fully
dry and allow to dry completely.

A piece of white paper turns into plain vellum and some background paper looks like vellum that
has been decorated. I have scanned a panel of the same paper above my card before it
was touched so you can see how it has changed.
The bees you see were stamped on the paper beneath the baby oil paper so you can
tell it turns translucent.
Stamps used were by DeNami Designs, savvy stamps and TAC.

This procedure tends to be somewhat messy, but that
has never stopped me yet!

Pretty Packing Peanut Production

I had to make another birthday card for another grandchild
so I threw it together with a technique for you.
Directions are below:
Packing Peanut Pretties Technique

Supplies:

packing peanuts, any size or shape works
inks of choice
stamps of choice

Directions:

1) Ink side or bottom of packing peanut and stamp

2) finish as desired

That was a quick technique! Packing peanuts come in all shapes and sizes, all textures and designs.
Put them to use as extra (don't forget FREE) stamps. They take to most inks very well and if you have
enough of them you won't even need to clean them off...just toss!

I stamped with various primary colors with the packing peanuts, then overstamped
several images by The Angel Company and then a verse by Annette Watkins.

This is a quick sample to show you how this technique looks. Different packing peanuts
will give dramatically different looks so experiment and have fun!!

TAC-Masked Frame

This beauty is nothing more than taping off the edges of your card
and scribbling colored pencil over tape.  When you remove the tape you will have a nice frame
already done!
I stamped the waterlily image by TAC before I made the frame so the tape
stopped from stamping there.  Then I stamped a second image and cut some petals to pop up and over my frame.
Don't you just love how the white pencil popped that gorgeous lily?

Thinkin' Fishie

This card was done using a pc. of shaving cream left over from
a previous project.
I stamped the fish over the cream background.
Layered a few times and
stamped a small sentiment
and called it finished.
The fish image is by TAC and the sentiment
by savvystamps.
So what do you think?
The background reminded me of bubbles and bubbles of fish and you know how
that goes......

Hoppy Birthday

I hope my scan shows enough detail for you to see how fun this card was.
Of course I mailed it off before checking to make sure I had scanned it good.

The frog image is by TAC and the sentiment by savvy stamps.  The ribbon by Reasonable Ribbon
and the embossing folder from Provo Craft.

I stamped the images on some glossy scraps first.  The top piece was run thru my
Cuttlebug then and trimmed to fit.  The bottom piece was stamped with Versamark and clear EP before brayering dye inks over and then trimmed.

I added the sheer green ribbon and like how it turned out.
This is a great way to use up some of those scraps we all seem to amass.

Blowing Bubbles

I began this card by stamping various circles and bubble images
here and there.
I stamped the saying (by Stampendous) and then made a shaker from a
tag.  I replaced the paper insert with an acrylic one, stamped the fishie (by TAC)
and tossed in some Rox for the shakes.

Quick and easy, just my style!

Scenic Surprise

This card is my attempt at scenic stamping with a twist.
Rather than cutting out masks I tried a new idea.
I stamped and colored the little pig farmer (isn't he just a hoot?)
and went over him entirely with an embossing pen and clear
EP.  Then I stamped and sponged my background as usual.
It worked well except somehow his little pig face got
sort of discolored.....and my background
kinda turned into a forest fire with all that orange.
The stamps used are by
Stampscapes, TAC, Meer Images
and some others unknown.

Masked Love

This was a simple card to make.  I stamped and colored the
fish (Stampendous) and then masked them.
Stamped the shape and masked that before brayering the
background.
I found that the fish tails didn't get covered with the brayering, which is good since I'm really
NOT a patient cutter outer.
I matted this onto black.
The bubble background was done with a large stamp by Stampin' Up!
They kind of look like the fish in my pond right now, cuddling up and
being all kissy kissy.....ah!  it must be spring!!

Frog Hugs

I had a blast with this technique from Technique Junkies.  It involves a drinking straw and reinkers, but you will need to subscribe to TJN to find out more.
I layered the TJN background and stamped the TAC frog in 2 pcs.  I mounted the front onto the back using a pc. of kinky wire to make him jump.
A pair of googly eyes and he is ready to HOP!
Of course you can't see all the action, but believe me he is a "hoppy" frog!!

Tropical Travels

This card is my stab at making a masked frame.  All images are by The Angel Company.
I stamped the parrot on a white panel and cut an oval shape and adhered it over the image.
Then I used the tail feather portion of the stamp to go around my mask, making a custom frame in the process.
With mask still in place, I sponged color over the piece.  Removed the mask and colored the components.
Stamped some words around and added a feather before finishing.
Now if that doesn't make you want to run off to some south pacific island...there is no hope for you!

More Camouflage

Here is another TJN camouflage technique card.
I tore and layered the tan paper over black and stamped the TAC elephants along the bottom.
*TIP*
If you want your torn edges to match up just lay them together with the
back or larger piece a little higher and tear them as one.  Then you can slide the top piece down
and trim to fit.  The torn edges should be a pretty close match this way.

Looks Like Bleach?

This card was done using a fake bleach look.  For the focal image (by TAC) I misted with Memories Misters first, then stamped the bug (by TAC) with versamark and embossed with white ep.  I added color with reinkers/water brush, trying to coordinate where possible.
This is much easier than bleach and gives a more unified result IMO
The background flourishes are by Quiet Fire Designs and the word is a Judi-Kins.
I added the gem to dot the "i" and add some bling at the same time.
We finally had some spring type temperatures here and I am so ready for spring!

Faux Texture

IRL this card appears to have lots of texture, even though it is basically flat.
I stamped images by The Angel Company in various ink colors over a white panel and then ran it through the Cuttlebug.  Then I swiped more ink over the raised portions.
Trimmed and layered and added a panel with more images by TAC.
This is a great technique that is quick and easy but looks like you spent lots of time on it...just my style!

TAC Under The Sea

This background reminded me of water so of course I expanded on that theme.
The muted colors are nothing more than some alcohol inks applied with sponges sort of helter-skelter and overstamped with white bubbles.
I stamped the fishies on some glitter paper scraps that had been colored with the alcohol inks also and cut them out.  I cut a piece of vellum on which I wrote the verse and adhered the fish over that.
Layered it all together and liked it so I quit right there.

TAC Happy

I am watching 2 very active grandsons this weekend so got behind in posting.  This card is from my stash.
The background is pretty simple to do and yields very interesting results.
You just brayer inks on cardstock and lay a piece of stitch witchery over it all, toss on some EP or UTEE and blast with your heat gun until the SW begins to melt and holes appear.
All images are by The Angel Company (TAC)
Now I am off to see what those boys are into now.....

Brayer Circles

You can get some awesome results with your brayer and not just by rolling it!
I inked my brayer with a K-pad and just rolled it around in a circle...over and over until I liked the results.
Then I stamped a scene...sort of.  The front line of trees is by SU, then I added some hills in the back and a verse by TAC to complete the scene.
See?  Scenic stamping is not that hard.  I tell myself those gaps between hills is just fog...lol

The Angel Company

I have to admit to posting a card I did some time ago.  Why?  Because I cannot remember just how I did that background...LOL
To me it looks like I used some DTP along with paper masking.  That cute hieroglyphic horse is by TAC and the ribbon from a swap.

Tiger Eyes

It's been awhile hasn't it. Guess I got carried away with those taxes. Got them off so time for some fun.
This card is just that....fun. I used some nifty animal paper as a background and stamped the tiger on some vellum, colored with markers on the back side and tore around my image. I put 2 tiny black brads in for eyes and also to hold down the vellum....they look pretty cool IRL. I used a matching brad to anchor the verse. Both images are by TAC.

I promise not to be AWOL so long again!

TJN Holiday Blogstravaganza

Here is another Holiday Blogstravaganza card. This background almost "speaks for itself" and does not need much more to convey its' beauty and simplicity IMO. A corner punch, an intricately cut out image and a snowflake eyelet brings it all together beautifully.

You will find yet more details and more examples etc on Pat's blog here: The Technique Trail

My card uses the Simple Green Spritz Technique (4/08)
