Selective Stamping with Misti

Selective Stamping

I used my Misti to stamp image, then inked only parts with darker color to imitate the "2 step stamp" method with a plain simple step stamp. As long as I was imitating I did up an "imitation" bow also....

LIM Challenge #272 "Graffiti"

The challenge this week over at
is #272 and the theme is to use a stamp 3 times
or use 3 stamps.
I have stamped an image by Hero Arts
"Brush Strokes"
3 times by sponging various Memento inks
directly on the stamp.  I also
used the word stamp by HA too....
does that disqualify my card?

Ribbon Frame TECHNIQUE!

I have a cool technique for you today:

Supplies:

ribbon of choice (1/4" width is big enough yet will not overwhelm IMO)
craft knife
ruler, pencil

Directions:

1) Make light pencil marks on back of your panel in an X shape
from corner to corner for square frame

2) Determine how big you want the frame to be and measure toward
center from each corner to center it. Make a light mark THE WIDTH
OF YOUR RIBBON and cut just as wide as your ribbon

3) Insert ribbon piece from back side and tie a knot before
running ribbon back on each side. Tape ribbon pieces behind
panel.

I used stamps by Hero Arts and color by Copics. I punched each corner but added no other decorations. For my card I measured one inch in from the corners but you could make it bigger or smaller if you like. Keeping your slit the same size as your
ribbon ensures there will be no gaps when done.

This is how my card turned out:

Thanks for stopping by.  I would love to hear how yours came out.

Too Much Tequila?

I saw the current challenge over at

which is:

Color Blocks?  IMO that leaves this challenge
WIDE OPEN!!

Here is what I came up with:

I've been itching to try this new set from
Hero Arts so paired it with some
stamps by Door County and paper salon.
I used Memento dye inks
"Bahama Blue"
"Love Letter"
"Pear Tart"
"Cantaloupe"
I popped the martini glass up
to add dimension.
Thanks for stopping.

Thankful or Thank Fall?

I made this simple CAS card for the current challenge over at

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog

The challenge is for either
thanks or Thanksgiving so I think
my card will fit.

Stamps are some UMs that I think are
by Hero Arts and the die cut is by memory box.

Gotta run!  My sister is coming to visit and I need
to clean my stamp room before she
arrives even though we will trash it I'm sure.
First impressions and all that you know......

Piercing Technique!

Today's technique comes from something I saw on Pinterest that caught my eye.  I don't know who posted the original idea so cannot thank anybody in particular for this one.

"Pretty Paper Piercing Technique"

Supplies:

paper piercing tool OR hat pin OR stickpin etc.
printer that prints in mirror mode (backwards text) OR
some fun foam scrap and stamp of choice

Directions:

1)  You can either:  print text of choice in mirror mode on printer onto card stock in light ink
OR
you can stamp onto fun foam scrap or solid rubber stamp and then onto card stock so it will
stamp in reverse.

2)  pierce the card stock along printed or stamped lines and turn paper over to use,

3)  Trim and embellish as desired.

My sample card uses a stamp by Hero Arts (it actually said "happy anniversary")
a word die by Memory Box (birthday)
designer paper by DCWV
bakers twine by Doodlebug
button from my stash
corner rounder by Creative Memories
large hatpin for piercing

*if you print in a draft mode or stamp with light colors it will not show on the reverse side of paper that you use*

Below is my simple sample:

Hat's Off!!

I had a little spare time today so thought
I would do up something for the challenge over at
CAS-ual Fridays
which is
"something with a back-to-school theme"

It seems I skimmed over the description a little hasty
and I thought it was to make an item having to do with school in any way?
Well below is my rendition of this challenge...not sure if it fits?

Stamps are by
Raisin Boat and Hero Arts
with a bit of red floss used for the tassel.

I just LOVE those hands, don't you?
Thanks for stopping by.

Wood Grain Technique by TJN

The wood portion of my card is explained
fully over at Technique Junkie Newsletter.
A really nifty way to get an
authentic looking wood background
with little effort.

After matting the wood background, I
trimmed some western-looking images and added some raffia.
Stamps used are Commotion, Hero Arts and PSX.

Well, it looked kinda, sorta like a lasso to me.......

Faux Grid Stamping aka Tapeless Tiles

This is an example of a way to get around the tedious taping job when making tiles.
No tape needed with my method!
You do need a shadow tile stamp though.  Mine is by Provo Craft.
I inked it up using pigment ink and set it ink-side up.
Then I  stamped images inked with dye onto the
grid stamp.  Finally I stamped the whole thing onto
my paper.  An instant tile effect without all the taping!!
A small HA word stamp beneath a clear tile bubble
finishes it all off.

Pucker Up For Lemon Juice

This is a card made with some lemon juice heated till it turned color.
I swiped some lemon juice on white paper with an old toothbrush,
but you can use a paintbrush or a sponge, any means to apply.
After swiping some juice on my paper I heated it until it began to turn dark.
The longer you heat it, the darker it gets.

I stamped the image by Hero Arts amd matted it then layered that over some wispy paper with
a die-cut flourish as an embellishment.

Halloween House Technique

Some inks, a sponge or brayer, some glossy paper and a white crayon are
all you need for today's card fun!

I stamped the house image (by Rubbernecker)
and then colored with a white crayon only those places I did NOT
want colored.

Then I used a sponge to color the scene and markers for the finer parts.
Then buffed the picture when dry to remove ink from atop the crayon.
I wanted a sort of aura around the house and got it.

words are by Hero Arts

Below is another one I did with a little more vigorous crayon used:

This one uses an image by Stampfolk
and the color was brayered on.

Sparkle Paper

I began with a piece of sparkle paper that
I dribbled alcohol inks over and smooshed them around to blend.
After allowing them to dry I ran the panel thru the Cuttlebug
and lightly swiped black ink over the raised portions.

I stamped a small greeting by Hero Arts and stuck
it inside a frame, ran some ribbon behind and added
some flowers atop with gems for centers.

Tada!  It is done!

IRL it has a shimmer to it that is gorgeous.
It almost took me longer to write this up than it took to make the card!

Daisies Among Us

This card was made by smooshing some inks on the backside of a panel of vellum on which was stamped a floral stamp by Magenta.
I layered this over a white panel edged with black and then over
a blue panel before affixing it all on the purple base.
I added some square clear epoxy stickers over some stamped letters
by Hero Arts on the right side.
A 10 minute card! Even allowing for the drying time it was quick.

Rainbow Strips

This began as a piece of white glossy paper.  I brayered over
with a variegated pad and stamped small images all over.
Then I cut it into strips and mixed them up before
affixing them.
The focal image is stamped with the same variegated pad.
That is supposed to look like she is holding a shawl?
What do you think?

Alcohol Inkings

The variations in the flowers on this simple card were achieved by
dribbling different alcohol reinkers over glossy cardstock and
allowing the colors to run and mingle. Then I let it dry before stamping and cutting.

Told you it was simple didn't I?

Stamps are by Hero Arts and Annette Watkins

Woven Words

There is more than meets the eye to this card.
I cut a slit on both sides of the focal image (by Hero Arts)
then stamped on a piece of paper (images by savvy stamps) the width of my slits.
I inserted this paper behind the image so it can
be pulled either way to view the message.
It is really cool how this works IRL.

**I followed the outline of my focal image for the
slits so they would be almost invisible**

Alcohol Ink Twist Card-Technique

Guess it has been awhile since I last posted here. I finally have the holidays wrapped up...we celebrated a little later when all our family could get together. It has made me get behind on everything.
This card was done by dripping various alcohol inks onto an acetate report cover along with some blending solution & metallic mixatives (all by Adirondack), closing the cover and brayering over to blend it together....then putting 2 pcs of glossy cardstock inside with glossy sides facing out. Close the cover and brayer to transfer the inks to the cardstock. When you remove them you give a little "twist" to get a nifty pattern. Then after it had dried I ran it thru my Cuttlebug.
I put 2 pcs of matte cardstock in after removing the glossy for a "second generation" which I used on the frame and the small tag.
Images are by Hero Arts and savvystamps.
and of course those kool Nestabilities!
