Happy Birthday Mason!

I needed a quick birthday card for my grandson who is turning 5 today
and I also wanted to make a card for the Less Is More challenge
which is to use designer paper in a CAS card.

TaDa!!

My DP is by DCWV from their
"All About Boys" stack
stamp by Annette Watkins
chicken stickers by American Greetings

I cut along the words on the DP to make
it pop a little more.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Birthday Aykre!!

Today's artwork is a birthday card for my young grandson:

I have used an embossing folder by
Crafts-Too called "Tools"
(of course!)
along with the SB die
"Wonky Squares"
Stamps by
Embossing Arts and Annette Watkins.
Together with a couple of cute
little vehicle brads from
Oriental Trading and I think
this card will be perfect for a small boy don't you?

Triple Time Technique

I fell in love with this elegant yet quick card.
So much so that I want to share with you how to make your own:

Triple Time Technique
Supplies:  2" by 3 1/4" panel, 3" by 4 1/4" panel, 4" by 5 1/4" panel.
Above panels will be your lighter toned papers and below are measurements for the
darker mats for each:
2 1/4" by 3 1/2" mat, 3 1/4" by 4 1/2" mat, base of 8 1/2" by 5 1/2".
The smallest combo is the 2" by 3 1/4" paired with the 2 1/4" by 3 1/2" mat.
Next is the medium 3" by 4 1/4" panel paired with the 3 1/4" by 4 1/2" mat.
Finally the 4" by 5 1/4" panel goes over the base of 8 1/2" by 5 1/2".

When you have them all cut to size sort your panels out from the mats and adhere a small
piece of low-tack double-stick tape on the backs to put the 3 panels together without the mats.
Stamp your images all over the 3 panels allowing them to "leak over".  Don't worry if  edges seem to be missing as they will be covered later.
Separate the panels and pair the small and medium with their mats, then add fibers if you want before
putting pop dots on the largest panel and adhering so images line up with each other.

I added some hand-made bakers twine as I did not have the color I wanted to use.  I wrapped some around a ruler and ran a Copic marker along it.
I used stamps by Annette Watkins, Creative Vision, Penny Black and PSX.

You could do other shapes instead of rectangles I think.

I Think I Shall Never See....

A Thing As Pretty As A Tree.
When I saw this lovely die by Memory Box
I HAD to have it!!
I cut it twice and layered onto white, black and
shimmery grey paper.  Done!
Well, I did stamp the verse by Annette Watkins
in Memento Tuxedo Black.

So what do you think?  Too simple
or just enough??
Thanks for commenting to let me know
what YOU think.

Birthday Boy

What can I say?

I totally forgot my little 2 year old g-son's birthday.....
So......
This is a 60 second card if ever there was one!

I cut the "Country Landscape" at the bottom
with a die by Memory Box and popped it over
paper that I stenciled some clouds with a
template by Crafter's Workshop.
Stamped the word stamp (by Annette Watkins)
and added the cute foam sticker from the dollar store.

Think the little guy will like it?

Pretty Packing Peanut Production

I had to make another birthday card for another grandchild
so I threw it together with a technique for you.
Directions are below:
Packing Peanut Pretties Technique

Supplies:

packing peanuts, any size or shape works
inks of choice
stamps of choice

Directions:

1) Ink side or bottom of packing peanut and stamp

2) finish as desired

That was a quick technique! Packing peanuts come in all shapes and sizes, all textures and designs.
Put them to use as extra (don't forget FREE) stamps. They take to most inks very well and if you have
enough of them you won't even need to clean them off...just toss!

I stamped with various primary colors with the packing peanuts, then overstamped
several images by The Angel Company and then a verse by Annette Watkins.

This is a quick sample to show you how this technique looks. Different packing peanuts
will give dramatically different looks so experiment and have fun!!

A Boy Bovine Birthday Card

My grandson turned 2 today and since he loves
the farm and cows both I made this card for him.

Stamps used are by Stampin' Up!, Annette Watkins
and Silver Fox Stamps.

I trimmed an extra barn and cow and popped them up and
the fence was done with a Martha Stewart border punch and popped up as well.
The sun was made by sponging the reverse piece punched with
a Stampin' Up! scalloped circle punch
and sponging yellow ink inside.
I added some glitz with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen on the words.
The sky was done using a cloud template by PrintWorks.

He loved it but thought the cows should be all black
because we have Angus cattle here...

A Wal Mart "Find"

I was picking out some paint at Wal Mart one day and happened to spy this small foam brayer with
holes in it meant for decorative painting.  Since I am first and foremost a stamper, I tend to view things with an eye for paper results.  So I bought it and found it makes some very nice backgrounds with
little investment (it was CHEAP!)

I inked the brayer with light blue ink and rolled it every-which-way over my panel.
Then over-stamped circles in different colors (by Endless Creations) on
each paper.  A corresponding ribbon between them with a cute buckle
around one circle and a verse by Annette Watkins.
I added the blue flower to go with the verse.

So the next time you are in Wal Mart go over and check out the painting aisle!

Compressed Sponge Coloring

This was a quick-n-simple card to make.

I swiped compressed sponges across some glossy white cardstock
that had been dribbled with dye reinkers.
The nifty thing with this technique is that you
can move your sponge in any design you choose....
making waves or spirals and the inks will dry that shape.

I cut several oval shapes and offset the layers after
stamping the saying (by Annette Watkins).

As simple as it gets!!

Watercolor Meets Cuttlebug

This card began with smearing dye re-inkers
here and there, allowing to dry and then running thru the Cuttlebug and embossing.
After matting I stamped the verse by Penny Black
and the butterfly by
Annette Watkins.

There you have it.  And to think at first I was going to toss that background.

Alcohol Inkings

The variations in the flowers on this simple card were achieved by
dribbling different alcohol reinkers over glossy cardstock and
allowing the colors to run and mingle. Then I let it dry before stamping and cutting.

Told you it was simple didn't I?

Stamps are by Hero Arts and Annette Watkins

Foam Brayer Fun

This simple card was born by wanting to match some DP.
The brown paper on the left side is a DP and the darker brown strip is some ribbon.
Over on the right side is what I made to match.
I began by rolling my foam brayer over some white cardstock with blue inks, then I stamped small circles in brown ink and a verse by Annette Watkins also in brown.
A blue flower and a blue metal ribbon brad finish it off.
So what do you think?
Sort of an opposite match?

TJN Alcohol Ink Float Technique

This card uses the Technique Junkie tech called Alcohol Ink Float...sorry but you will have to get the recipe from TJN. Just click the title above and you will go to the TJN website for more info & some FREE tutorials!
My sample uses a "second-generation" yield from this awesome technique. After stamping on this magnificient background I colored the images with a marker wash.
