This is a good technique for subtle shading.
Sponge 2 or 3 chalk colors over white glossy paper and mist with rubbing
alcohol, letting colors run a bit.
Then swipe a metallic inkpad over that and mist again with alcohol, letting colors run.
Seal with fixative and stamp over it.

*Remember that it might not look very promising before
you overstamp!*

Thew way you write about this just cracks me up because I've done this same technique several times, every time ending up with the whole mess in the garbage can because I don't have even one cell of an artist's gene. You have a squadzillion of them!
