Don't you just love this pretty image by Sweet Pea artist Elaine Cox? Her name is "Darya".

I tried to give her an undersea look and those patches on her skin are meant to be

foam or bubbles I think.....

I always insert a scrap of wax paper between my die and the paper I am cutting

for ease in removing from die. This time I left the wax paper cutout on the upper

flower as I thought it softened the look a bit...what do you think?

I also cut apart the frame diecut to fit around my image.

so I took full advantage of the weather!

**TIP: when you need a thin border around a diecut and do not have

or want to buy another whole set just trace around the outside edge

of the die you are using and cut that out by hand, layering

beneath your diecut. It makes a much cleaner edge than

using a bigger die (which gives a border too wide IMO)**

This is what happens when you get a new die....

I bought this cool die by Memory Box called "Country Landscape" and paired it with

an old watercolor attempt I had saved.

The subtle watercolor shades don't show well on my scan though.

But with the diecut in front of the colored background it

looks like an awesome sunset IRL.

Supplies:

water mister

die by Memory Box "Country Landscape"

I did the water wash by misting some watercolor paper first with water

to get it uniformly wet, then I dribbled a few drops of reinker

here and there and added more mists of water.

Then tilt the paper so the color runs here and there, adding more

water/reinker to attain results desired.

I did the background by smearing white gesso over red cardstock and then smearing green-dyed
gesso over that after it dried. This allows all 3 colors to be visible.

After coloring the image I masked it and sponged dye inks for a background.

Then I edged with a leafing pen (some of this came off but I rather like the look...sort of a

"shabby chic" look?

The HC window diecut was cut in half to fit around the

larger oval shape.

This is my January page. I printed the months and matted them,

stamped a MFP image lightly in the center of each month, added some bling and

put it all together with my Bind It All.

I used the new sets from October on this and the next month; with older sets on

the rest.

Here is a side view so you can see how it stands. A very simple

one-piece design as you can see.

12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop!!

My sample coasters are below:

I got some old plaster tiles long ago and have intended to stamp them with a wedding theme

for my son and his wife....who have been married now for 4 years!! Time to get my act on the road.

I airbrushed some Copic markers for a base color and then stamped

and colored the images with Copics as well. I applied several

coats of sealer and affixed felt bumpers on the bottom.

These will fit into a small table with a grid when I finish all 12 of them.

Until then they will serve very well as coasters.

for this project.

needed to finish this off IMO.

as buttons....

After airbrushing the Spellbinder diecut I stamped greeting and applied

crystal lacquer over colored circles to imitate more holly berries.

Sweet Pea Fall Feline

I've been noticing some of our leaves turning colors here in

South Dakota and thought this image from plate #146 by Melissa Dawn

for Sweet Pea Stamps was appropriate

for my project this week.

It is (very aptly I thought) titled

"Autumn Cat Magic"

Supplies used:

Copic markers

Tuxedo Black dye ink by Memento

Distress ink "Spun Sugar" by Ranger

Marvy dye ink "Salvia Blue"

Stardust clear glitter pen by Gellyroll

Flourish die by Cheery Lynn Designs

DP by K & Co. "Hopscotch"

leaf & cardstock from my stash

I sponged Distress and Marvy inks around the image to

set off the mostly white cat in the center of the stamp scene

which was colored by Copic markers, then matted and affixed

to DP and then base.

A simple salute to autumn yes?

I had a hard time with the sentiment wanting to smear on the
paint chip so I embossed with black EP and got some unwanted specks
ON MY LAST CHIP!! I will just pretend they aren't there....

corrugated cs, buttons, textured paper from my stash

I stamped the image and stippled Distress Inks for color,

matted several times and stitched a couple of buttons to a piece of corrugated cardstock

left over from some packing material.

That is basically all....short and sweet?

I kept this one pretty simple to showcase those cute ghosties.

My scanner insisted on bleaching out the colors so I used

my camera. As you probably noticed I am not too familiar

with how to tweak it for blog posting...please bear with me.

MFP Blog Hop-Day 1 "Autumn Glory"

Today's Featured set is

"Autumn Glory"

and below is what I did with it:

I found this clear cover for my iPhone and couldn't resist making
a custom cover showing all the glorious colors of fall.
I brayered Distress inks "Old Paper", "Wild Honey",
"Peeled Paint" and "Spiced Marmalade" on some
white cardstock cut to size. I then stamped the MFP image from this set in Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic markers and edged with a gold leafing pen.
There is a faint embossed design that you can see looking closely,
but I think the images show through well enough.

Stamp A Mania-More Halloween!!

This is a simple card done with a not-so-simple Halloween sheet by Stamp A Mania.

I basically stamped and used some square punches to set off the images

atop a strip of striped DP.

The ultimate CAS card yes?

Halloween Stamp A Mania Style!

Here is a sample from a new set being introduced this week by Stamp A Mania.

Just in time to make some Halloween cards!!

I stamped the house on Cryogen paper and colored with Copic markers.

added the bat with Tuxedo Black by Memento and affixed over black cardstock

and then over a kraft base.

Some small black gems made by my Viva Decor pen

to finish it off.

Sweet Pea Stamps Elegant Witch

What do you get when you have a chance to play with a gorgeous plate full of those beautiful ching-chou kuik stamps and a new embossing folder?

An awful lot of fun!!

Here is what came of my Sweet Pea session today:

It is rather simple by comparison to some of the Sweet Pea DT's

creations, but since I am the Queen of Simple, I like it.

I embossed the yellow panel with a Sizzix embossing folder and swiped with orange ink.

Then stamped, colored and cut out most of an image by

ching-chou kuik titled "Divine" and popped her up with a thin yellow ribbon

from my scraps tied as a sash.

About as simple as it gets?
